Dr. Erica Zelfand

If the straight-and-narrow approach to care was going to work, it would have by now, right? I’m here to help you look at things from a new perspective and connect the dots. I sometimes joke that I’m not a doctor, but actually a detective, looking for clues to solve the puzzle of what’s really going on.

I’m a fiery empath and the most extroverted introvert I know. I genuinely care for and about every client I serve, and I will root for you every step of the way. I honestly love my job.

As a first-generation North American, furthermore, I simply don’t have the status quo baked into me. My slavic roots blended with my East Coast upbringing have me rolling up my sleeves, eager to get down the business of helping you reclaim your life. I’m ready when you are.

Background & Training:

After graduating from medical school with high honors and completing a family practice residency, I opened a primary care medical practice in Oregon. It wasn’t long before I realized how many people were struggling with their mental health – and I suspected that the tools in my toolkit weren’t enough.

That’s when I started experimenting on myself like a 1940’s scientist, and it became absolutely clear what was missing. Despite knowing that it would place a huge bullseye on my back, I spoke up about what I was learning about psychedelics. Thankfully, the medical community didn’t ostracize me – they asked me to speak even louder. So I did!

Over the past decade, I’ve worked with the Zendo Project, trained in MDMA-assisted therapy with MAPS, become a ketamine prescriber, and literally traveled the world studying psychedelic medicines and administering them to people. I teach internationally and advocate for the normalization and legalization of entheogens. In fact, I’m so committed to the cause of making medicines like psilocybin, MDMA, and ketamine accessible to others that I helped create Right to Heal, and now train other providers in this work. As for my philosophy, I think the name “Right to Heal” says it all.
